A hat trick of wrong penalty decisions in yesterday's three games. Still, at least VAR has managed to rule out several goals for dubious offsides and accidental handballs since the restart so that's all good. That Man United penalty has got to be one of the worst decisions of the season

Art's Trivia Challange: Willian became the first player ever to do something in the Premier League*. What was it? *I'm saying 'Premier League' as I can't be bothered to check, but I suspect it also includes the all the Pre-Premier seasons too.

I remember he scored a few penalties recently, so, perhaps he is the first person to score penalties in x successive games?

No, it's not penalty related.
Although I was thinking earlier, because this is the kind of thing I think about, why don't you get any defenders taking penalties these days? Nearly every regular penalty taker is an attacking player now whereas in the 90s there were loads of defenders. There was Stuart Pearce obviously, Bruce then Irwin for Man Utd, Lee Dixon took them for Arse pre-Ian Wright, Dicks at West Ham, Brians Borrows and Kilkline took them for Coventry, John Wark, Frank LeBeuf, Ian Harte, David Unsworth..... there were loads of them. How many have there been from the last 15 years? I can only think of Baines?

I've had a Wiki look at Willian, I think I know the answer, just because of how this season panned out.
Do you think with the modern game being full of nincompoops, penalties are decided by what's in a player's contract rather than who's best to take them?

I wouldn't be surprised, especially if they're on some sort of goals bonus. Although I am always a bit suspicious of forwards who don't want to take penalties. Yeah, I think you've got it - He's the first player to score a Premier League goal in every calendar month. I've got another stat from this season - Norwich became the first side in the history of the Premier League to fail to win a single point after going behind

I'm going to plug a couple of fantasy football games... www.fanteam.com - very similar format to the FPL game. 25 Euros a team but there's a million Euro prize pool. fantasyfootball.skysports.com - free to play, £50,000 top prize.

I've had an absolutely nightmare start to fantasy premier league. 2nd bottom after 2 weeks. Is it a game of chance or is there an actual degree of strategy in it? I've never won the league my mates run and need to sort it out

Why not post a link to your team and we could laugh at it offer advice? Also you might want to have a look around here

Old team was
Leno
Rudiger Stevens Boly
Barnes Mane Aubamayang Pulisic Wijnaldum
Werner Rodrigo Wilson
I had no idea Pulisic was injured so that's my fault for not doing any research. Rudiger for some reason has been benched or not in squads too. Also I didn't expect Leeds to spend £25m on Rodrigo and then still play Bamford...
Mane saved me last week really.
I've already used my wild card for this weekend and it's basically players that have started well 😂.
Martinez
VVD Justin James
Barnes Mane Foden Havertz Rodriguez
Kane Jiminez
I have until the deadline to play around though. It was either Havertz and Kane or Son and Werner...

I had Pulisic in a couple of Sun teams and I did do my research He was reported as back in full training so I assumed he'd be back at least on the bench by week two but still no sign of him, even in the league cup. Nah, it's all free. I've been on there since the days when Stuart Pearce was a viable fantasy football pick I'd guess a majority of the winners of the big prizes down the years have been fiso members. I don't venture in there myself but the FPL section is always quite busy so should be useful.

Anyway you can get KDB in your team? He was a deep lying play maker last year and was the top scorer in the game. This season hes playing as a number 10 and is on penalties. I'd probably sacrifice Kane as there are quite a few decent 6-7m strikers

And what about the subs?... I would advise against downgrading that forward spot because it makes you too inflexible. With Kane you can swap him for any other forward for any given week but if you downgrade to a cheap forward it means you're playing the whole season without ever bringing in Agureo/Vardy/Werner etc or having to use two or more transfers to rearrange your team in order to bring one in. You don't want to be sat there with two cheap forwards while everyone else captains Vardy for Leicester's week playing Fulham and West Brom..... I'd sooner downgrade the other striker if you want to raise funds. I'd take Calvert-Lewin over Jiminez at 1m cheaper. Or Maupay for 2m. Also, a Chelsea defender? - Last year they were awful, this year so far they look awful. Just seems a waste of 0.5m, I'd sooner have a 4.5 from Palace / Brighton / Southampton /Leeds/ whoever. Can you squeeze Alexander-Arnold in? I don't really know about this game but looking at last years scores he scored so much more than the other defenders. Whereas I doubt Rodriquez will outscore the best cheap midfielders by nearly as much.

I see Abramovich is being reported as having an itchy trigger finger at the moment with former Derby manager.
I never really understood what how when he started sniffing around management he was suddenly this hot property and how he ends up at Chelsea with sod all pedigree.

Is anyone still really interested in football? Have to say, I’ve mostly given up on it. Quite comfy turning forest games off too. Without the crowds, even the Premier League looks as bad as pub football. No hiding how boring it is.

Abramovich has pulled the trigger.
Never quite sure what made them bring him on board other than his name is Frank Lampard.

They brought him in when there was a transfer embargo and when they had just sold Hazard, it wouldn't have been that appealling to a top manager. So I understood why he got a chance (perhaps to deflect from the embargo if nothing else?)
Thought he did well last season and I was routing for him to succeed (would like to see more English managers in top jobs) but evidently he wasn't quite up to it.
Reading through some of the analysis makes you realise how messed up football club dynamics can be; - Apparently the management were upset Lampard kept on asking to sign Declan Rice. This was because the club released Rice as a youngster and didn't want to make it look like the club had made a mistake by resigning him. - The management were upset Lampard didn't make more of an effort to motivate Kepa, because he cost so much - Chelsea told players like Alonso and Rudiger they were going to be sold, in the end they stayed, weren't picked and just underminded Lampard from the sidelines
