OK, I've joined a fantasy league thing where you each have the defence of a different Premier League side - I've got Watford, which wouldn't have been my first choice. Or even my 18th choice.
I know almost nothing about Watford, anyone taken any notice of them for the last few years? like to take guess at their likely starting back four?

Watford are a strange club. Every time I look at their team, they have a new manager and random imports brought in from their sister clubs. They are as chaotic as Forest except, with, er, multiple promotions to show for it.
They'll probably line with Bachmann, Femenia, Troost-Ekong, Sierralta and Masina at the back. They haven't really signed any defenders other than Rose, who might start ahead of Masina.

Yeah, they are exactly like a higher level version of Forest. Even Danny Rose is exactly the sort of player we'd have signed if we were a division higher - Used to be quite good but always a bit over-rated, increasingly injury prone, and barely seen for two years.
Thanks. I'll go 343 with Bachmann, Femenia, Troost-Ekong, Sierralta....

😎 Well at least Troost-Ekong started
Cathcart and Kabalese barely played in the second half of last season, I'm surprised they were involved. Sorry AV 😬😳

I went to Goodison Saturday. It was alright. I went as I'd never been so wanted to tick it off before it gets knocked down.

Sorry AV 😬😳 No worries, I quite like Kabasele but I'd never have gone with Cathcart anyway, I thought he was well out of favour these days. I'll give them another two games to see if anything changes. I doubt I'm going to miss many clean sheet points....

Arsenal have done some pretty bad transfer business haven't they? They've been pretty useless for a long time now but even worse than normal.
For the around the same amount West Ham spent on Coufal, Soucek, Benrahma, Zouma, and Vlasic or Leicester spent on Fafana, Castagne, Tielemans, Maddison, and Soyuncu the Arse have got a supposed creative midfielder who last year was involved in about four goals, a keeper to sit on the bench, a second back up left back, and Brighton's third best centre half. Oh dear.

I've made a return to fantasy football. Having seen Antonio get over double figures the past three weeks, I added him to my team (at a cost of 4 points). Yesterday, he got minus two.

Ronaldo, then Salah, then Gray captains in the Sky game, I took Antonio out after having him for the first three weeks. That's how it's done DS

New manager at Watford again then. That looks a harsh one even for them, how well were they expecing to do this season? Nice to see Ranieri again though. How do we think it'll go for him, Leicester or Fulham?

Ranieri seems like a very short term pick, 50/50 he'll keep them up but if not then some other foreign no mark will come in.
I know it has worked for them (to limited success) but do the club's owners not wonder if it could be even better if they took a long term approach to finding the right manager?
Looks like Steve Bruce will be the next one out then. Other than that, not much happening up at Newcastle then...

Normally I'd be wanting Watford to go down as they're quite an annoying team but I like Ranieri and I've got that team in a mini-league with a Watford defence (still waiting for a first clean sheet but above the Norwich and Newcastle teams) so I'm a bit torn. Can't see Ranieri lasting the season really. They seem to have a default position of 'sack the manager' when even slightly threatened with relegation and I assume they'll be in the bottom third even if he does quite well so it seems inevitable.
I guess that's what Forest would have been if our recruitment had been better. A lot better.

Did a proper fire fighting job in keeping Roma and Sampdoria up. Fulham didn't have a squad to compete.

I thought Fulham should have done better both times they were promoted recently. Although that wasn't Ranieri's fault. Signing a load of random foreigners and loans in positions you don't need, while failing to replace players who left and ditching the players and/or manager who got you up are not good ideas. To do it twice makes you look a bit stupid.
On a related note Norwich are an odd one aren't they? They comfortably finished above Sheff Utd, Villa, and Leeds the first time they came up, then above Brentford and Watford last season yet have been so much worse than all those sides in the Premier. OK, sometimes teams are just better suited to the Premier League for whatever reason, but to be promoted so convincingly then be so utterly hopeless in the League above is quite unusual. To immediately do it again is quite the achievement.

This is the first time Ive been worried that Derby might lose their "worst team in history" tag. Norwich are awful, but I do hope they'll manage to scrape at least 12 points.

No chance. I don't think they'll even come close. Think of some of the awful sides there have been. Off the top of my head there was Huddersfield in their second season, Fulham three years ago, Sunderland the other year and their even worse side when Andy Gray was their best player. None of them came close to beating Derby's record. 11 points. 11 points?! In related news, Farke sacked then? Seems an odd one. They're going down anyway so it would make more sense to stick with him for next season, win the Championship easily as usual, then bring in someone new over the summer. The Villa one looks quite harsh too, a lot of new players and they've not looked that bad. I've got a season points bet on Villa so I'm really hoping they don't do something stupid. And I hope nobody down there appoints Allardyce, what a boring cliche move that'd be....

You don't get any of those centre forward/centre back players any more do you? There were quite a few about in the 90s - Steve Walsh, Ian Marshall, Paul Warhurst, Gary Doherty, Chris Sutton sort of, er I can't think of any more but I'm sure there were some.
Anyway, in a vaguely related question......
