Hi all What i can't seem to fathom from all this since Marinakis took ownership of the club there has been a massive influx of players totalling 69 either on a permanent or loan deals along with several managers. How is it possible all these players can be so bad and with not one single manager able to pull some kind of respectability some method some formation some leadership some consistency to make a decent side, is it the expectation levels or the history of the club or is it the club culture over all? Seriously though why are things so very poor with the playing staff and why every single season Thoughts? Hello, and welcome to the Forum. Most of us have been questioning our recruitment policy for some time now. 69 players in over 7 transfer windows under Marinakis is just ridiculous. Very little quality amongst those signings.

We always seem to go for the players no team wants that surely is the first clue.I stated right at the beginning of the season 3 of our better players have gone only being replaced by at best sunday morning pub players..Mckenna is the only signing ive been interested in the last few seasons.

Also this team is not one that we are building for the future. For those who do believe what CH says about us having a very good team underperforming and it will eventually come good, these are not 21 year old future prospects. The majority of the squad are over the hill players who are only going to put in more and more below par performances.
Of the 11 who started against Norwich 4 signed this season, 4 signed last season, 2 signed season before and Worrall. This provides no culture, no connection to the club etc.
In two years time, the physios room will be overcrowded with players. This squad, this season, there is absolutely nothing to cling onto in the hope that the future will be brighter. Poor performers continue to be picked and younger players are not given much of an opportunity.
The only one who does is of course Yates which is partly why I think he gets so much stick. If he was able to give some outstanding performances around all the mediocre players at least it would give us some hope of future development at the club. Unfortunately, he looks like a less effective James Perch.
Out of all the poor forest teams we have fielded over the years (incl league one) this one is definitely one of the worst.

I know it’s something I harp on about but it’s worth a look at Redbull and what Rangnick did there. One of his first observations was to look at the squad in terms of its ability to handle his football philosophy. In short it was too old. They then set a plan in which built a portfolio of transfer targets. What was common amongst all of them was they had to lower the average age of the squad so that over time he would have a squad in the age range they were looking for. The old Team sky do something additional that’s worth picking up on. They recruit for attitude as much as raw talent. Additionally they use data to monitor and predict when the riders are starting to drop off and move them on. We could do with some of that thinking.
