The issue with Grabban is that previous managers have insisted the striker help defend set pieces or return to assist the defence. Now the player has started to lose that slight edge in speed, stamina and anticipation, either the player must concentrate solely as a striker, pushing further up field or play a secondary role upfront with a new partner. Unfortunately this does leave a hole defending corners or set-pieces, and whilst on a single occasion made a monumental cock-up he has made a number of important goal line clearances.
Concerning our latest transfer other users have touched upon the advantages and disadvantages of Murray, but I'd rather give an opportunity to Lyle Taylor and play Grabban in a holding role. Yes Hughton has stated neither have gelled in practice, but sometimes a Match environment a player suddenly clicks and looks completely different.
I’d like to be wrong in Grabban but I’m just not sure what he’s for any more. I’m not sure if this new fella brings us an advantage but I wouldn’t bother trying to work out how we can find something for Grabban any more. For me he’s be given chance after chance and it never seems enough for him.
Roy Keane said something that I agreed with at the weekend that applies to ‘big time’ players like Grabban. He was asked at the weekend what Solskjaer should be saying at half time. Keane’s response was effectively- “nothing, these are top flight professional footballers who shouldn’t need telling what to do. They should be grabbing this game and taking charge “
That’s where I am with Grabban right now. He feels like dead weight.
