I haven't watched the latest few Marvel films, i'm kind of superhero'd out, but I did fancy watching the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 though. HBlock - Am i going to know what's going on or do i need to have to watched all the preceding films? I think the last one i watched was the latest Thor movie...

The 355 - A bunch of lady spies from different agencies join together to stop a bad guy gaining a master key to the internet - one of those "can break into anything" devices that have become super popular plot devices in movies recently. I'm unsure why it was needed though - everyone in the movie appears to be able to hack in to whatever they want anyway so why this master key is so dangerous is a bit of mystery. As usual with these all female led movies, the makers seemed to think that that gimmick was enough and so didn't really bother with making an actual decent film. It's a bit rubbish across the board, and also did that hopeful thing of setting it up for a franchise at the end. 4/10

You 100% need to have seen the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films before watching the third one as there are loads of references that just won’t make sense if you’re not clued up. If you’ve got Disney+ they’re on there.

I meant the most recent MCU films like Black Panther 2 and Quantumania... It's just i know the MCU films often lead in to each other, or at least have links, so didn't want to watch Guardians vol 3 if i needed info from other recent MCU films first...

Fair do's, i'm almost certainly over-thinking it

Greed - Steve Coogan and Michael Winterbottom team up for the umpteenth time, this one is poking fun at the lifestyles of the super rich but does also have a serious point about exploitation as well. I enjoyed this, it's very light hearted and has loads of top Brit comics having fun in different roles. A self-made billionaire is organising his 60th birthday party on a Greek Island. There are also flash backs to how he got his money and an ongoing investigation into it. The ending is a bit stupid but heyho. 7/10

I was just reading a news story from Australia where police tasered a 95 year old woman with dementia because she was coming at them with a knife. She fell and cracked her head in 2 places and will probably die. In their defence, she was coming at them, albeit extremely slowly and on a walking frame, but i can understand their terror at the situation and the need for extreme force

I'm sure they'll make a movie about their heroics at some point!

The Hateful Eight - Tarantino Western from a while back that i didn't watch when it came out for some reason. This was great, back to his roots and very Reservoir Dogs like in that it mostly takes place in one big room, a bunch of people that can't trust each other etc... Lots of exposition and comic book violence. Only problem with it is that it's so long and didn't really need to be. 8/10

Babylon - Another ridiculously long film. This is about the decadence and wildness of early Hollywood in the 1920's and 30's and follows 3 people through their highs and lows. It's actually really good for the first couple of hours, the last hour got a bit stupid and tiresome. Worth a watch though. 6/10

Sky Sports News is a bit odd in the mornings. It's like they want it to be a bit informal or social media based but haven't really come up with any actual ideas and it's just a bit shit.

Star Wars Holiday Special - Well, that wasn't good. It's so bad it makes Phantom Menace look ~~good~~ ~~adequate~~ not quite as bad. Clearly what's happened here is they had the rough plan for a generic variety show then at the last minute someone high up announced 'Hey, Star Wars is popular at the moment isn't it, let's make it Star Wars themed'. So with just a few days to prepare and with nobody involved having seen Star Wars, they had to cobble together something with random inappropriate guest stars, a bond theme type song, some quite dull acrobatics, a musical number about a pub closing down, a box of kids' dressing up clothes, and an old set rejected by a daytime tv soap into an overall Star Wars narrative.

At least that's what I'm assuming happened, it's hard to explain it any other way. It's awful from start to finish. It makes little sense, looks really cheap, manages to be both incredibly boring and really weird. The only bit that even feels appropriate to put out on tv is the Boba Fett cartoon which, while making no sense at all in the overall context, is at least competently done. I'll give the cartoon bit 4/10 the rest 0/10 for an overall 0.2/10.

Birdemic 2 The Resurrection - Well, this is basically the just first film again. Everything wrong with the first film is still wrong, and it's still enjoyable but I think a degree of self awareness has crept in, which does spoil things rather. -7/10

Best lines: "I just wish Susan could have been here to see this bird skeleton, but she got a disease from that fish that Rod cooked".

"the last time we we took detours we went into that cemetery, and you remember what happened? We were attacked by those zombies. I'm not going through that again"

88 - A woman can't remember who she is or how she got here in crime mystery thriller type thing. I watched this after Star Wars HS and it still didn't seem very good. It jumps about in time a bit as we're supposed to be involved in figuring out what's gone on but the main mystery is why we are expected to care about anything that's happening. Various unpleasant characters do little of interest. Not good 3/10

Is the Star Wars Holiday Special the one from the 70s where they introduce Chewbacca’s family? Watched it years ago, think I wrote a review on one of the forerunners of this forum.
