Why was it, that in the one game I've seen with English officials, it took about 5 minutes to make a straight forward VAR decision 🤔
I'm England news... 5 at back, 2 defensive midfielders, with Saka, Kane and Sterling upfront
Foden, Mount, Grealish, Sancho and Rashford all on the bench
Calvert Lewin not in the 23 man squad

Nobody going to mention that England just beat Germany? It's been cautious and not the most entertaining but if it was Italy/Germany/France producing those performances and results I'd be thinking they look likely winners.
Just need to beat Ukraine and Denmark/Czechs for a place in the final then. Before losing on penalties to Belgium.....

As l said, italy looking strong. What a great game of football. There have been 2 or 3 great games even a curmudgeonly git like me has thoroughly enjoyed.
Then there's England.
Southgate gets paid to win football matches, I get that. I pay money at football matches to be entertained and hopefully watch a win. 'If' England won this tournament, I'll celebrate the result like any other patriotic Englishman, but I cannot accept the way he sets out teams. Its fucking dull.

Italy look like men possessed. Add to that - skill, movement, passion (and cheating as always) I can't see anyone stopping them. I'd obviously love it if England managed it.

Yeah, exactly this. Putting the result to one side, can anyone really say they enjoyed the football in England v Germany? It was like watching chess at times.

Yeah, exactly this. Putting the result to one side, can anyone really say they enjoyed the football in England v Germany? It was like watching chess at times. The Ukraine game is the same, England are just happy to pass it around at the back, disappointing there isn't more purpose to our play. Were inviting some pressure even though Ukraine look ordinary. Frustrating, but if we win, I'll forgive it

The style of play is awful and I honestly think we're only getting away with it as we haven't played a decent side yet, Germany clearly aren't what they once were.
Judging by the sounds coming out of my local by and large nobody will care about the quality of football if England go and win Euro 2020, but if we're still playing this turgid rubbish come World Cup 2022 I can see a backlash.
We have enough quality attacking players to play much better than this.

If I didn't know the score I'd assume we'd just lost OK, it's not like watching Manchester City but when has it been?! at least they look organised and committed. For the last 30 years I've watched more talented England sides than this play like they've only just met and don't really want to be there. Even in the relative good times the football was never great. In 1990, even with Gazza, Barnes, Waddle, and Beardsley on the pitch, the football was awful to watch and, aside from 30 minutes against Hollvnd, Euro 96 wasn't that much better. Plus how often are International tournaments won with attractive football? They're usually won by the sides with the best defence and who can win without playing particularly well. but if we're still playing this turgid rubbish come World Cup 2022 I can see a backlash. Absolutely no chance that following England's best run of form for half a century there'll be a backlash because the football's a bit dull.

I have to give Southgate credit for what he has created. 2 semi finals in consecutive competitions, a "togetherness" amongst the squad that we haven't seen in years, and a belief from the players in what the manager is trying to accomplish, but fuck me, watching England is akin to watching paint dry. I will argue forever that you can be successful and entertaining at the same time. At least the second half against the Uke's was a little more exciting with us scoring 3 goals, and to be honest, we do look likely winners of the Euro's, but I find it difficult to get excited watching this dull football. I reckon this is how Forest would be if Hughton had a better quality squad of players, pretty successful, but the "animated chess" football would be enough to make the worst insomniac have the best kip of his life.

There are more fans out there happy at us being fairly successful playing the way we do than there are who want Southgate out. Fuck knows how, but he's rapidly becoming a national treasure.

Well I for one am buzzing at the moment with the Euros. I could care less about Forest at the moment as it's all about England vs Denmark. In the group games I was frustrated by Southgate's defensive team selection but I understand now that we're set up to not concede goals and not blow teams away. I can't remember any team that's won a tournament in the modern era that's done it playing champagne football. Typical of English fans though, back to back semi finals at tournaments, not conceded yet, smashed a team 4-0 in the quarter finals and folk still moan

I don't like winning by cheating, no matter how long it's been and how many times other teams have cheated us. That's never a penalty and he's been diving all night as did Kane. Its a yellow card if anything.

I said at some point in the second half that I didn't want to go through with a dodgy penalty
Turns out I wasn't that bothered after all 😁 there was VAR and we've had our share of bad decisions over the years, so who cares
Sterling was pure class yesterday. He's been great all tournament. The whole team delivered yesterday (a few iffy moments from Pickford aside)
Bring on Sunday 😁😎👍
