On the back of that.. serious question.. who was the last central midfield player we had ( not talking CAM) who would go forward and get beyond play and look to create things Inside and around the box and shoot from 20 yards? Mcgugan? Or did he play CAM?
To be fair Tiago Silva did that for us, not as effectively as we would have liked but my god look at the void even he has left in centre midfield after 1 season with us. Would love to have him back in the middle right now. I liked him, he was a busy player who didn't mind a challenge, could run with the ball with energy and agility and had an eye for a pass but didn't have enough players on his wavelength, shame we didn't get to see him and carvalho together.
Majewski was a favorite but Silva as you mention did the job well. Shame it took Silva about half the season to settle but he became a key player for the team. Not much of a motivating factor to play well at Forest if you dont fancy spending a year in Greece

The first season I properly followed Forest we had Steve Hodge and Neil Webb in centre midfield, both got double figures. Imagine kids just starting watching Forest now looking back on Yates and Colback in 30 years although I doubt anyone will remember much from Forest for the last decade. I've forgotten most of it already.
That was a weird season - a kind of no-mans land season where Fawaz had lost interest but the takeover hadn't gone through, although I assume the Greeks were behind the recruitment that summer. It was certainly more like the years to follow than the ones under Fawaz, which while they seemed pretty clueless at the time, were relatively focused compared to the last few seasons.
Just seen the line-up for tonight - I don't even know who half of them are and while I was typing that we've gone 2-0 up. Which is nice.
