Any thoughts on the coronavirus?
I'm largely off the opinion it's all hype, as the death rate isn't much worse than influenza, but it does seem to be spreading 🤔
Not sure why toilet paper is the first thing people are going for in supermarkets mind. If I'm going to have to self isolate for two weeks then a few crates of beer and wine are the priorities

I'm probably the target audience to get a dodgy bout of this, with being asthmatic and having had pneumonia a couple of times before.
I'm sure I'll be OK though and if I'm not it'll only kill me once.
Not sure what the purpose is of whipping people up into a frenzy though. If you're going to catch summat you'll catch it, no point in worrying about it.

If I'm going to have to self isolate for two weeks then a few crates of beer and wine are the priorities I was in Asda yesterday and whilst there wasn't much in the way of hand sanitizer or bog roll there were at least 40 boxes of beer on sale. Guess the brand...Corona. People really are thick.

The panic buying is crazy. More people die in car accidents than have or will be killed by this thing and nobody starts stockpiling toilet roll when they announce a new bypass being built.
Twats.

To be fair if you haven't heard of Corona beer before it doesn't sound the most appealing. I probably wouldn't buy Ebola wine or Aids cola...

Well that's pretty much made me unemployed as I've just been doing sessional work since my school closed in January. Might be able to get some online work, hopefully.

It's a real threat in my opinion. I have a mum who's not been well at all.. No husband to sit with.. can't have close contact with anyone and it's mothers day tomorrow. I'm quite worried.

It's all a bit grim isn't it. I don't know why we're only just shutting things down now, surely we could have done this two weeks ago... I've been shutting myself away. Although to be honest it's not much different to my life normally

Alright Art, how about yourself?
I've got pretty good on the guitar already. I might learn to sew next.

I learned to knit when I was a kid, I doubt I've still got the skills now though I'm alright. Not left the house in weeks but as long as I've got the internet I think I could happily just potter about inside for months. My sister's been left in a weird situation as she'd quite recently started working on a cruise ship. Obviously they stopped taking on passengers weeks ago so it's been just the staff sailing about in a half empty ship. Her work's mostly customer based so there's little work to do but all the restaurants, facilities and a lot of the entertainment is still going on as normal so she's basically being paid to take a long cruise holiday. Although nobody is allowed to leave the ship so I suppose it's like 90% holiday 10% prison...

I've not reached boredom levels yet as, being self employed, I've still had to work. Fitting a new kitchen and bathroom in a house in Derby of all places. House is empty, so safe for me to work in, but after this job I'll be on lockdown. Everyone keep safe........and Art, if you rekindle your love of knitting, I'll have a Forest scarf please mate.

I've been working from home for years now so the working week at least isn't that much different for me. Plus 1 week in 3 i'm on call as well and can't go very far from my house so that's not much different either It's just the lack of sport getting to me mostly, i think i used to mark the passage time by the Football or Cricket matches that were on and now they are gone it's just days blurring in to each other.

We all are I think IKS. Everyday I wake up and say I'm not drinking today. Then by 7 I've got a bottle of wine open.

Our recycling bin is an embarrassment. I don't think I've drank like this since university.
Things are as good as can be, I can work at home fairly easily and it's been nice to spend more time with the wife and our 9 month old son.
Boredom and a restless child are the main issues, but I know thats nothing compared to what others are facing, so can't really complain.
We should be taking steps to water down the lockdown soon. Its not sustainable to wait until a vaccine is found. Now NHS capacity has been increased and the vulnerable have been identified, then surely the restrictions on the low risk should be reduced as much as they can be.
