Another questionable England selection for the upcoming friendlies:
Good to see Henderson in there. But no Lingard?!
Maguire has no business being in the squad, he's been shite for a over a year now. Mount has had a poor start to the season but still plays every England game in the #10 role.. when was the last time he actually scored or created a goal? Phillips, Shaw and Chilwell aren't playing for their clubs while Rashford and Sancho are actually looking decent this season but are left out. And is there really any point in calling Toney up this close to the WC?
I've always thought Southgate was strategically suspect with his squad selections and his rigid tactics. Showed against Italy in the EC final. Showed against Croatia in the WC semi. And again in the recent NL hammerings. Great motivator but it's good luck and good players which brought recent success. Worried we'll get majorly found out in Qatar. What do you lot reckon?
