Similar dynamic to Saturday’s FA Cup match with Blackpool in that you’ve got two teams fighting relegation who ought to have better things to focus on.
In light of other difficulties do we really care about winning this second rate cup competition? The reward of a Europa Conference League playoff round place against the risk of weakening our campaign against relegation doesn’t seem worth it?

I want us to win it. Who doesn't want a day out at Wembley?
Yes, players may pick up an injury on the way, but they could in any match. Should we not play our best XI against a top 6 team where the liklihood is that we'll lose anyway? Save the best for the crunch games at the bottom of the league?
We've made it to the quarter finals of a cup competition, it would be silly to throw the towel in now.

I would have thought Cooper made the decision to rest players in the FA cup and focus on this. I'd be amazed if it wasn't a first choice XI

Here's a question for you fellas. If we win tonight and city win v Southampton. If city, united and Newcastle all finish in the top 4 with arsenal, does that mean we get a Europa League spot for making it to the semis?
If we make it to the final then we are pretty much guaranteed one... But could we possibly qualify by being in the semis if all 4 other clubs get top 4?

If we were back at the first round with both comps I would say yes but being in quarters and having wolves isn't really a chance you can pass up is it. Hopefully the loss to Blackpool could have a positive backlash on our team and season. |

I think the changes were more about the timing of the game and the opposition than the competition. Didn't work out but I think it was the right decision, pleased we've gone strong tonight.
On the Europe thing, I'm pretty sure you've always had to win the League Cup to qualify, certainly in the Premier League era that's been the case. You used to be able to qualify through the FA Cup as runner up, possibly even semi-finalist, as a leftover from the old Cup Winners Cup days, but that doesn't happen any more either.
