I've backed him since he signed but you're right, lacks that yard of pace and skill on the ball. Doesn't look fully fit. Still, best striker we have and probably couldn't have done much better for £17.5m. Got to be better than KD at this level.
Need to throw £40mn at a new striker if we stay up.

Awoniyi makes hard things look easy but sometimes makes the easy things look hard. Do rate him though. Had we got a point against Brentford I reckon we would be safe. Let’s hope Chelsea carry on their poor form on Saturday. I think he's a donkey. All his goals have been 2 yards out. Yes you have to be there to score them but he's not the marauding striker we had in KD for example. Each to their own I guess. Neither of his goals against Southampton were 2 yards out and were very different in style. Not sure what you're expecting, Drogba only got 10 league goals in his first season with Chelsea. Sometimes it takes players time to adapt. Fair enough if you think he's shite. I think he's doing pretty well in a team that for large parts of the season haven't created a lot. |

[br I'm in the middle, sometimes he doesn't look like a footballer, like when he receives the ball the way he touches it and his body position and gate of how he moves around the pitch looks quite laboured and unathletic. But at the same time by Christ is he a handful. It would rest my fears if I saw him pick the ball up 20 yards out drop a shoulder and curl one into the far corner but I just can't see him doing that. It very much seems like his finishes have to be on instinct. He's a really funny one, I love the fella and it makes me chuckle everytime he misses a chance he has that same big grin on his face. He doesn't appear to be that kind of striker that can pick the ball up 30 yards out and charge at goal, find half a yard and hot the back of the net... If you remember keinan Davis against Barnsley last season at home when he picked the ball up after a mistake at the back, he carried it 20 yards and calmly slotted it past the keeper in the corner... I want taiwo to have that in his game, and I think at union Berlin he did. Not digging the fella out though, after a couple of months to adapt he looked really promising before his injury and now looks great again coming back from his injury. I feel he could actually have an important say in keeping us up. |

Admittedly I don't see every game but it seems like he creates very little for himself and for a guy his size, he doesn't seem to win his fair share of headers/challenges.
Of course I'd be very happy to have egg on my face if he scores a few more this season

I'm not entirely convinced, a lot of his goals have been put on a plate for him. Admittedly I don't see every game but it seems like he creates very little for himself and for a guy his size, he doesn't seem to win his fair share of headers/challenges. Of course I'd be very happy to have egg on my face if he scores a few more this season  |
