Bloody hell, I must have been living in a cave but all this Football Index business has passed me by: www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56401707Anyone on here affected? I have to say despite being curious about the concept I never took the plunge as it always seemed that FI didn't actually own a share in the players. Eg, it's not as if Phil Foden's value goes up 2% you get 2% of his salary or next transfer fee or what have you, so it was never an investment in the true sense of the word. But then I don't understand why Bitcoin is so valuable either so maybe I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to this sort of thing?

Not been investing in NFTs then? Yeah, I've been affected alright although it didn't come as a big surprise. I stopped putting money in when they removed the 'instant sell' feature (where you sell share back to footballindex rather than other users) and had withdrawn over half of my cash balance just in time. I think the idea of footballindex has a lot of potential but they screwed it right up. I'll go into more detail if anyone's interested but basically they made a series of strange/bad decisions which quite predictably made the platform the exact opposite of what it needed to be.

Burnley 5/2 to win at Fulham. Burnley have been playing better than their results recently and Fulham are crap. Got to be value.
On that topic what's with all the praise for Scott Parker? All season I've been hearing the pundits saying what a good job he's doing and Tottenham fans have regularly been popping up on the radio calling for him to be their next manager. I don't get it. He's done alright but he took one of the promotion favourites up, spent all season in the bottom three, and went down again. Is that much of an achievement?
Jokanovic got a more convincing promotion with a weaker Fulham team and was sacked after a few weeks, yet there seems to be no question over Parker. OK, he's a likable guy and used to play for Tottenham but so's Chris Hughton, and he took a less fancied side up and kept them up fairly comfortably, yet any Spurs fans calling for him to be their manager would be laughed at. What's the deal with Scott Parker? Odd.

Burnley 5/2 to win at Fulham. Easy money What do we think about the play offs then? I was going to go Brentford but 6/4 isn't much of price and Bournemouth 11/4 looks better value. I think it's going to be one of those two, bit annoying they're playing in the semis....

The Sun and Telegraph have launched their Euro fantasy football games. fantasyfootball.telegraph.co.uk/www.dreamteamfc.com/g/#homeYou can see how long the Sun have just been copy and pasting their rules across, while looking through the Ts and Cs trying to find out what the actual rules are to the Sun game and came across this slightly out of date example- "For example, if you transfer in Darren Anderton for David Ginola and neither England nor France are playing that day, then you have until 23:59:59 on that day to reverse that transfer"

Blimey, have those rules not been updated since 1996?
I look forward to signing Zubizarreta in goal, Maldini in defence, Boban in midfield and Turkyilmaz up front.
Actually, I didn't enjoy Dream Team too much when I played the World cup 2018 version, website seemed a bit clunky and I seem to remember there were players you could sign who weren't actually in the final squads? The Telegraph game is sound and straightforward, particularly if you haven't got that much time to make transfers every five minutes.
Personally, I confess a preference for the official UEFA / FIFA games when it comes to Euros or World Cups and it looks like this year's official Euro 2020 fantasy game is up and running:
Seems to work the same as the official Champions League game if anyone plays that, pick a squad of 15 and narrow it down to 11 players per match day. You can set it up so players who aren't picked will be replaced by your subs automatically or do the subs manually if you prefer.
Bring it on

I don't really enjoy Dream Team either - the websites quite bad, rules often unclear even to themselves, and it's generally quite poorly run. I never used to bother with it but in the last few years a lack of alternatives and decent prizes have drawn me in.
The prize distribution for the Euros isn't the best though, winner - 50,000. Runner up - zero. Brutal.

Anyone actually doing any good at the fantasy football this Euros? I based my team around England players and dark horse picks Denmark and Turkey which has proved disastrous, I even had poor old Eriksen in my Sun Dream Team

You should have asked my advice before the start, I finished 4th at Euro 2016 Would have been second if Portugal hadn't got that fluky late winner. My advice would have been don't start with any Turkey, Denmark*, and England players I'm doing alright. I started with Italy, Holland, and Belgium based sides moving to Sweden, France, and Spain through the second round. Then on to Germany in the third round. If France and Spain has kept clean sheets I'd have been all over the telegraph leaderboard. As it is I'm about 40 points back but I think that's closeable still. Similar situation in the Sun although a lack of Ronaldo might have finished me off there *nothing wrong with Erikson as a pick. That's just unlucky.

Doing Telegraph, Official UEFA and Sun Dream Team and doing awful in all them! Haven't been on top of the transfers either which hasn't helped.

In the telegraph you just need to let the groups and order of fixtures decide the transfers. Obviously in each round you always want to be removing a player who's already played for one with their game still come so you have to start with players from groups a/b/c then move on to c/d/e in round two then on to d/e/f in round three. Then you've got the amnesty before the knockout games to set up your teams again the same way for the knockouts I don't usually go in for betting on International football but Denmark are going to beat Russia aren't they? 8/11

Depay, Wijnaldum, and Dumfries out. Maeler, Paulson, and Lukaku in. That's how it's done H-B

Yeah, enjoyed them yesterday as well. I've nothing against Wales usually but the constant presence of Robbie Savage really makes me want them to lose. I had a few Denmark defences in the fantasy football too so that worked out well You can get 11/1 on Belgium which seems generous. They've got a tough draw but, with the possible exception of France, I'd make them favourites in a one off match against anyone. I'd take them at 11 over Germany, England, or Italy at 6 or 7/1. Denmark 14/1 outright. Sweden 66 Anyone tempted?

I had a tenner on Denmark at 25/1 before the tournament on the basis of their pre-tournament form and expert speculation that they were dark horses. Don't really think it'll come off but along with "doing it for Eriksen" it's a reason to cheer them on.
That, along with a quid each way on Brathwaite to be the top scorer are the only bets I made that are still alive. Had a few attempts to pick the finalists, whilst the teams I picked are mainly all still in they've all ended up on the same side of the bracket so that's the end of that. Also had a few bets on Hungary and Turkey to get to the later stages which both completely collapsed. The level I play at its not worth backing the usual tournament favourites as the odds are so short I'd have to risk too much to make it worth my while.

Go on then, Art's post has inspired me to stick a quid on some of the outsiders like Switzerland (100/1) and Ukraine (80/1) and a couple of quid on Sweden at 40/1. At those odds and pocket change stakes you may as well have a giggle

Knew I should have bet on Italy when it went to penalties. I have a theory that in International tournaments, and maybe cup competitions generally, teams who win a penalty shootout nearly always lose if they face a second one.
I haven't ever bothered to actually check the stats on this but I'm pretty sure it happens way more often than 50/50.

I did check this ofver the World Cup and Euros and it was 9-2 in favour of the side that hadn't already won a shootout. Typical that England would prove an exception. Anyway, I'm giving the fantasy footballs a plug- fanteamSun DreamteamtelegraphYou'll get an extra team if you sign up and buy an entry via my fanteam link

I had £10 on England to win on pens and then the same for Italy. 8/1 for each. Only bet I had throughout (I'm pretty rubbish at betting). Just fancied it to go all the way. Typical that we ended up on the shit end of it.
